A HOPE OF LEARNING MORE ABOUT OURSELF- BRINGING FOCUS TO OUR STUDY HABITS

    in Lifestyle

There is something to be learned about human nature by watching an encounter between wild animals and us.  I give you a picture;  park bench or a place in the woods, a good book, a thermos of something refreshing.  In the stillness, something begins to happen.  Birds and small animals begin to come closer, going about their business as they do. A quick motion, a pop or bang sends them scurrying off. So we return to our book and after time, they overcome their hesitence as we offer no threat, and they feel safer.  You get the idea. It is a prescription for approaching other people's ideas.  I share it hoping it answers a question.  How?   The stillness and quiet is a language to connect.  It doesn't overcome. It doesn't make one any smarter or braver. It is a way to connect. Remove the tendency to judge and criticize and something happens.  Tyically people are guarded.  Being trusting is seen as a liability a moral weakness. I must admit, piety is no anecdote. Creatures like us trust our senses and experiences. I am a stranger to the world, so people must make assumptions based on their past experience. Threat, maelevolent, dangerous, so be cautious, wary.  It makes sense to men like me, that trust is earned not assumed.  Respect is earned, not assumed. Reputation is hard earned and easily ruined. The patience required to change assumptions is just enough, not a second more or a second less. Control is inside the mind. For the  rationalist in us, it explains a great deal. Not to go into the darkness about this here, when we are talking or teaching, sharing a point of view, subtlely helping listeners lower their guard has many benefits. Why not? Connections- isn't that a part of what we do?

MONDAY MORNING MOTIVATION 1/2 HOUR OF P.O.W.E.R W/ DA QUEEN

    in Culture

**Monday Morning Motivation: 1/2 Hour of P.O.W.E.R with Queen Angela**
**Happy New Month!** Welcome to our first Monday in October. Today, as we embark on this 1/2 hour of P.O.W.E.R, I want us to touch on a deeply personal topic—grief. With the holidays approaching, this time of year can be particularly challenging for many of us.
Let me share something close to my heart: I am grieving. I miss my brother terribly and at times, I still can't believe he is gone. Grief is a journey, not a destination, and it’s important to acknowledge the phases we may experience.
    1. **Denial**: This is often our mind's way of shielding us from the initial shock. We might find it hard to believe the loss has occurred.
    2. **Anger**: We may feel frustrated, helpless, or even angry at the person we lost, others, or the situation.
    3. **Bargaining**: Here, we might dwell on "what if" statements, hoping to change the reality through our minds.
    4. **Depression**: Sadness and regret can settle in as we start acknowledging the loss and its impact on our lives.
    5. **Acceptance**: This doesn't mean we're okay with the loss, but we begin to understand that it’s a part of our new reality.
Everyone's grief journey is unique, and you might move back and forth between these stages. So, how do we cope?
    - **Talk About It:** Share your feelings with someone you trust. Speaking your emotions can be cathartic and validating.
    - **Remember Your Loved One:** Create a memory book, look at pictures, or celebrate their life in a way that feels right for you.
    - **Self-Care:** Prioritize your physical and emotional health. Gentle exercise, healthy eating, and rest can be powerful.
    - **Seek Professional Help:** Therapy or joining a support group can offer guidance and comfort.
MISSING MY BROTHER, IT HURT SO MUCH!!!! IT'S A DIFFERENT HURT

4 Steps to Resolving Foot Pain without Surgery with DL Walker

    in Lifestyle

Know anyone suffering from foot pain or bunions? Or perhaps knee, hip, or shoulder pain?
Did you know there are four core principles that can help address any type of musculoskeletal pain or dysfunction?
I recently experienced this firsthand! While heading back from the team retreat in Sedona, I twisted my knee at the airport—kind of funny, really, since I wasn’t used to wearing shoes on a polished floor!
But, thanks to these four core principles, I knew exactly what to do. While waiting at the gate, my husband helped release my tibia, and when I stood up, the pain had significantly improved. What could have been a surgery situation for some, became just a minor inconvenience for me.
Now, I'm inviting you to join me for an exciting interview with my good friend, DL Walker, a foot and ankle specialist. She’ll break down these four core principles so you can learn how to naturally solve foot pain (and bunions) without drugs, needles, or surgery!
    We’ll cover:
    - Why it’s essential to address the entire "kinetic chain" for joint pain relief - The key mistake many physical therapists make when treating patients on a table - How the four core principles—Release, Realign, Reinforce, and Reset—are multidimensional ...and so much more!
